About this deal

These are things I’ve only heard of as Frank Miller’s run was popular but it was great to read it and see all this stuff unfold first hand. Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. And “Man of Fear” seemed like an afterthought, being more of a re-purposed retelling of Daredevil’s origin that Miller had originally created for a potential Daredevil film that never happened. Here we get to watch (for the first time in comics), a character move from a typical spandex-clad, fighting hero with a secret identity to a thoughtful and troubled person who contemplates murder and love. These 4 or 5-star reviews represent the opinions of the individuals who posted them and do not reflect the views of Etsy.

Seems like I’ve been following Frank Miller’s major works through different publishers for quite some time now. But, honestly, after 900+ pages of 60’s saccharine silliness, I think I now prefer a good “ka-pow” to a knife in the eye. Also note that, before Miller came along, the Daredevil comic was floundering on the edge of cancellation. During those times, Daredevil was originally pinned with colorful characters (Stilt-Man for crying out loud), fighting different ones every day, and battling it out in court battles.

Seriously, humour neither contributes to every situation nor should everyone consider themselves funny. The first 41 issues of Daredevil are here, with him battling villains galore and even hero battles against Namor, Thor, Spider-Man, Ka-Zar, and even the Fantastic Four (the guy pretty much took on everyone at some point or other). He subsequently led the expansion of Marvel Comics from a small division of a publishing house to a large multimedia corporation. Interpersonal relationships were well explored and less lionizing than the typical superhero fare which I appreciated as well.

After their affiliation has ended, “Daredevil” is still left with poor hand-me down villains and flat one-shot episodes. And not only does he establish, reestablish, and create new characters, he has terrific stories for them as well. Las primeras historias, donde Miller dibuja pero no escribe, se nota que son más simples, livianas y autoconclusivas. He wants to test a time-displacement weapon, an inventive plot but secondary to the simmering subplots of Foggy and Deborah Harris' burgeoning romance coupled with Matt finally getting serious with Karen now that Foggy's affections lie elsewhere. While doing so he also gets to showcase Matt's limits and how close he is to letting Bullseye finally die. Poco después el bueno de Frank agarró al demonio por los cuernos y se puso al mando de la colección con la total libertad que da saber que estas en una colección que ya tiene los días contados.
