About this deal

Chocolate cakes and things that are a bit different, I often use my “All Cakes Considered” book which is a US book I bought in SF. Just thought I'd add my Mum (who is 80) has a first edition Bero book which belonged to hrr Mum and is in mint condition! I wrote about the tartlets here and then set about finding how far back they first appeared in a Be-Ro book. Be-Ro recipe books came up at one of our recent tea parties – afterwards I mentioned to a friend that I still had my mum’s old copy.

In 1923 Be-Ro issued the first recipe book which as they say ‘has been at the heart of homes up and down the country. Today I wanted to do dusting but the fridge needed cleaning desperately, it took ages but needs must. Millions of people would have to double their incomes to escape financial hardship, says anti-poverty charity Joseph Rowntree Foundation in a new report published today. As I am sure you are aware, right now, it's costing significantly more to make and distribute products.

Found that my Mum also has a (much nicer) copy which I've now scanned and put on the Internet Archive: https://archive.

Me and my friend just found a 40th edition copy on the side of the road, and you’ve helped us solve the mystery of how old it is. There is also a pencil note next to the butterfly cakes recipe (‘Favourites of all children’) with the words ‘made them’ underlined and copious baking/tea stains (re-created in my new 41st edition). each recipe accompanied by a little colour photograph, giving another clue to the era, with free use of glace cherries, angelica and piped cream. Being married in 1950 it seems logical that she would have first made them some time between those dates.I can clearly visualise one booklet which she used often (and I would dearly love to have again) but it was nowhere to be seen when we cleared out her house. Didnt they do this on great British bake off and prue leith said it was traditionally a genoise sponge? It can take some time keeping up with everyone's blogs, there's some which I've been following for years now.

I don't think a scone base pizza would have featured on many home menus then, but it's one I'd quite like to try. Maybe yours is like those rare postage stamps where there's something missing and it's worth a fortune! In ninety-nine cases out of a hundred she has a happy home, because good cooking means good food, and good food means good health. Getting something totally free is likely to get a true MoneySaver's heart pumping faster than any cardio workout ever could. As a result, Bell decided to take the first couple of letters from the each of the two words of the brand name and turn them into the more catchy sounding ' Be-Ro'. Our Story Thomas Bell founded a wholesale grocery firm near the Tyne quays and railway station in Newcastle in the 1880s. your doctor will tell you that good, wholesome food is worth more than all the medicine in the world, especially for hungry, growing children. If you were poking around in your mum or grandmas kitchen at any point of the 19th century, you’d probably come across a Be-Ro cooking book.
