A second special episode on the Crown Prince is reported to be in the works and scheduled for release in 2023. A special feature-length episode of the series, titled "Ashin of the North", was released on July 23, 2021, presenting a focus on the supporting character played by Jun Ji-hyun.Well, there is a conclusion for sure, but it’s one of those where you’ll have to imagine what occurs for these characters in manga form. The Kingdom of the Gods is a four-chapter manga based off of a Korean webcomic that' Vowing revenge against the Cho clan, Lee Chang resolves to travel to Sangju to meet with Lord Ahn Hyeon, a governor and retired war hero with ties to the royal family. The god of childhood and mischief, he is suddenly transformed into a mortal in the presence of twin Arameri children, Shahar and Deka. This leads to cannibalism which seems to be the origin of the disease that turns people into zombies.

In an interview, Eun-hee elucidated further on the reasoning behind the episode, stating that "I decided to go with a special episode because I thought it would be more interesting. The episode acts as a sidequel to the second season of Kingdom and explores the backstory of Ashin, the mysterious character Lee Chang's group encountered on their journey north to discover the origins of the infected. While it sports a lack of meaningful storytelling and an unsatisfying resolution, The Kingdom of the Gods remains full of fantastic art, bloody sword fights and zombie apocalypse mayhem. The first story is a standard zombie fest that, while it has an arc, doesn't really have much in the way of resolution. I usually don't like child characters, especially when they are so young (we're never given an exact age but I'd guess Yi Moon is around ten years old) but I had none of my usual problems with kid protagonists.

In Hanyang, the Chief Scholar Kim Sun becomes alarmed when signal fires in the south are lit and demands to speak with the king. but those characteristics were portrayed in such a realistic way that I didn't dislike him, I pitied him. Do you like helping others find a manga they’re looking for or do you simply enjoy telling others about manga? Set in the 16th century and three years after the end of the Imjin War, Kingdom takes place in a fictional, medieval-inspired Joseon (modern-day Korea) and blends political thriller and elements from zombie horror.

Additionally, it was confirmed that Kim Shi-ah, Koo Kyo-hwan and Kim Roi-ha were cast in the special episode. Sieh must uncover the reason he has become mortal, as well as a string of assassinations of Arameri family members. People are driven to do terrible things in terrible times and the human aspect is the most engaging and moving feature of this zombie story. The former is a Korean Netflix Original; the latter saw serialization in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits.

The series’ portrayal of political dynamics of corruption and power highlights the disparity of growing concerns against the bourgeoise, suffering in the midst of a plague. Instead of fleshing out the main story, the second half of The Kingdom of the Gods is an entirely different bonus story.

All that to say, I’m not opposed to violence in manga or books in general, but this was beyond what I was comfortable reading and seeing illustrated. Eun-hee stated in an interview that she wanted to depict several themes through the use of various narrative devices in the series. The soldiers begin to rain arrows on the survivors within the clinic, but are fooled by Mu-yeong and led away from the clinic while the refugees escape.

Action sequences play out over several pages at times and it mixes the horror with gore and the pacing of something like the fights in the anime adaptation of Bleach absolutely perfectly. In the midst of that, there is the outbreak of the zombies and an elite ninja group attempting to assassinate the prince once and for all. Sure, the AMC series waxes on about class and elitism, but Kingdom wades deep into governance and the divide between the rulers and the suffering populace. He still had all the true characteristics of a child - impulsive, emotional, lacking foresight, needs saving/protecting etc. Suspicious of the illness afflicting the King, and his recent lack of public appearances, his investigation not only uncovers a dangerous plague that brings the dead back to life, but also a plot to betray the Royal family and usurp him as heir.
