About this deal

New Balance's signature quality and style make the FuelCore Nitrel V4 a must-have for trail runners. With the firm ride described previously, I did not find this shoe to break in and get any softer than its first day running. The underground feel was also good—I’ve had shoes that gave me a better underfoot feel of the ground and at the same time provide cushioning, but these shoes were way more expensive.

Although it has the protection and reinforcement found in more technical trail shoes, it is still oriented to those looking for less of a challenge. Engineered for absolute durability, the NITRELv4 running shoes offer relentless trail running capabilities.Trail outsoles also have deeper lugs (like the tread on a mountain bike tire) that bite into dirt and soft ground to create better traction. The Expert: I became a runner in middle school and have covered running and outdoor gear for years, both on-staff at Runner’s World and as a freelance journalist. There’s no rock plate in the Nitrel v3, but then for what the shoe is designed for, it probably doesn’t need one.

The New Balance Nitrel v4 trail running shoes are here, the latest interaction of one of the most successful sagas of the firm New Balance for the most intrepid mountain runners.

On its ‘home-ground’ of light, dry, non-technical trails, the Nitrel v3 felt like a shoe that could go as far as your legs could take it. I’ve written more about running shoes than I have any other type of gear, and I have firsthand experience with models from a range of brands, including New Balance. Had read the reviews and 67% stated they are a good fit but I found them small and toes touching the front of shoe.
