Very little is known about the upcoming comedy horror movie Beau Is Afraid, which is of little surprise considering the movie’s director, Ari Aster, previously gave us Hereditary and Midsommar, two creepy terror tales that were clouded in secrecy before the time of their release. Is should then follow this up with the UK DVD, Blu-ray and standard digital release date later in the year with August a good estimate. There’s a lot more variation in schedules for home media nowadays, and a lot of it comes down to how successful the film is on the big screen. RELATED:

However, there are some big films coming out in May, including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 and Fast X, which will take a lot of the attention. This could mean that the production might push for a slightly earlier release for home media to give it more time during the summer holiday months.

Beau Is Afraid is due out on the big screen on April 21st, 2023, so we’re expecting it to arrive digitally with early access first. In the UK, this should be between 30 and 45 days after the cinema release, so you’re probably looking at late May at the very earliest, but more likely June 2023. With my time up, I congratulate Aster on the film – I don’t mention defending it to bewildered strangers after the press screening – and suggest he looks up his own subreddit. “That sounds like a dangerous place for me to go,” he says. “I’m not sure I’ll be running straight there. But it’s flattering.” All of this is adding up to a lot of potential for the DVD, Blu-ray and digital release date. Ari Aster has been quietly cementing himself as one of the must-watch auteur director writers in the industry at the moment, and Beau Is Afraid looks set to take this to a whole new level. It's currently unclear if the feature film will borrow any elements from the short. The first trailer for Beau Is Afraid hasarrived and it straddles the genuinely hypnotic dividebetween surrealist humour and outright menace. If the trailer alone can conjure these feelings, just imagine what the final movie is going to be like. Lost in the wilderness, Beau comes upon a group of traveling theater actors named "The Orphans of the Forest". He is invited to their rehearsal and becomes entranced by the play, imagining himself as the protagonist, who spends his entire life looking for his family after they are separated by a flood. A man approaches Beau and informs him that he knew his father, who he says is still alive. The troupe is ambushed by Jeeves, who slaughters several actors. Beau flees deeper into the woods.
