About this deal

The Good Housekeeping Institute's engineering and parenting pros have reviewed 30 double strollers in the last seven years. We ask each manufacturer to provide American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) certification to verify that its stroller passed ASTM's safety standards. We then perform in-Lab and at-home tests to look at maneuverability, ease of pushing and turning, stability, ease of reclining the stroller, ease of getting the babies in and out of the stroller, ergonomics for the parents pushing the stroller, storage space and more. To accomplish this, we push the strollers over varied terrain, including pavement, grass, dirt and cobblestone, and we make obstacle courses to evaluate effort required and stability capabilities. Many parents love that side-by-side double buggies mean there’s no squabbling over who sits at the front. But they can also make a day out to the shops with your children harder if you’re struggling to squeeze between shop doors or get on the bus. It is a heavy buggy to use. Although, it's lighter than the original version, now weighing in at 12.1kg. I wanted something that could convert to a double when I needed it to, rather than have both seats all the time. It’s great for all-terrain and has been on many muddy forest walks. The basket is huge and it's a very sturdy buggy that never tips up. I also like how the handlebar can extend up, which is good for when the toddler's on the buggy board. I also like that I can use it as a travel system and put the car seat on it if I just want to nip into a shop. The only thing I would say is it is quite heavy when both kids are in it... and it does take a lot of space up in the boot." Our Lab experts love the City Mini GT2's design because it has all the best features of the original GT model: roomy seats for both kids, a super-simple fold and rubber wheels that can take on tough sidewalks and dirt paths. This GT2 also includes large peekaboo windows in the canopies with magnetic closures and an adjustable leg area so your child can rest their calves comfortably.

Great for off-roading and trails, fits through any standard doorway, so it’s been fine in shops or on the train. Folds pretty flat. Very comfy to push. Good resale value! We’ve had ours three years and still going strong!" Double strollers are great for keeping little ones accounted for, as well as saving space in your car or while you're on the go. With narrow tandem stroller designs or versatile side-by-side buggies that help you keep an eye on everyone at the same time, you can brave the grocery aisle, the park and almost anywhere else with only one set of hands.I love it. It’s so lightweight and easy to push. Both children are side by side, so can see things. And being the width of a standard wheelchair, it can fit through all doorways. It is super easy to fold down and goes pretty flat, so there's no need to take the seats on and off. It's great on pavements and for off-roading, too." Side-by-side stroller : This is the traditional double stroller style. As the name suggests, the stroller seats are lined up right next to each other. This is a great option if you want to keep an eye on both children at once. These kinds of double strollers also seem to have the slimmest fold. But keep in mind that side-by-side strollers are wider and often more difficult to squeeze through narrow spaces, like store aisles. They do fit through double doors for commercial establishments but can be a harder squeeze at home if you have a single door that doesn't open wide.

They come as either side-by-side double pushchairs Opens a new window or as tandem buggies with one seat in front of another. Single pushchairs that convert to doubles are often tandems; you attach the extra seat on top.

I love my Out ‘n’ About double! It’s so easy and light to wheel, and narrower than it looks; it even fits through doors in my house. My kids are very comfy in it too. It’s heavy when folded down, and bulky in the boot of the car, but it does fit." Nuna strollers are popular among online reviewers and our Lab experts. The Demi Grow can be converted into 23 different configurations (some require car seat and bassinet attachments, sold separately), but we love that it features a narrower, tandem style, as pictured, a nice option if you're afraid that a side-by-side will feel too wide. You get two seats from the start — no need to buy a second one. Because the seats are identical in size, this is a nice double stroller for twins.

I'm a childminder and I can't recommend this enough! All of the childminders I work with use these. They are easy to fold down and can be used from birth with or without a carrycot. They have big hoods for sun protection and big seats for bigger toddlers. (My six-year-old has a go sometimes). Easy to push and comfy with a decent-sized shopping basket."One hand is all that is needed to fold the pushchair (which is handy when you’re dealing with double trouble) and the Evalite folds down to a compact and manageable size which is flat enough to fit in most small car boots. For parents who are in need of a double pushchair but are worried about their ability to manoeuvre such a large system, the Evalite Duo from Joie is a fantastic solution designed and engineered to carry all the luggage without the load! Weighing in at just over 10kg, the Evaluate Duo is one of the lightest double pushchairs available and will make travelling with two youngsters easier than you think. We introduced new pushchair tests in 2015, and again in 2018. This model will not be directly comparable to those tested after 2015, or those tested from 2018 onwards. I chose it because I wanted my children so they could both see out. It fits through doorways fine. I love that I can take it on any terrain. It is much better off-road than my single one, so it's opened up more walks for us. It feels lovely to push and it fits in the boot of my small car. It’s very practical. It is a good price, too."

If you're going to be schlepping around more than one kiddo, many parents find a double stroller to be a great investment. Ever tried to push two separate strollers at one time? We don't recommend. And even though you can strap a tiny sibling into an infant carrier while you push the oldest, that gets tiresome after a few months because it's hard to bend down and tend to your eldest while wearing your youngest. Size, maneuverability and purpose: Are you hoping to take your little ones with you while jogging? Do you need a double stroller that can easily fit through narrow aisles? Are you only on sidewalks, or do you sometimes go on park trails? Do you need to take your double stroller on an airplane? How you plan to use your stroller will help dictate the features that are most important for you. Testers say this is a double that rolls smoothly — its all-wheel suspension helps with that. Our Lab experts also like the fold: You pull up on straps, one on each seat (under where a child sits), and the whole thing folds in half in a second or two. You can then store it resting upright. To open, you lift a latch and unfold it, which also only takes a few seconds. Suitable right from birth, the Evalite’s multi-position rear seat unit reclines flat whilst the front offers a 1 position recline and both come equipped with SoftTouch 5-point safety harnesses with covers.C onvertibility: Unless you have twins, there will likely come a time when you only need to push your youngest around. Modular, convertible strollers let you remove or add seats at your convenience, so your double stroller can transform into a single. Convertible strollers are great for a growing family, but they tend to cost more than other models and aren't as practical for a set of twins. What's the best double stroller for most families? Our top-tested model for 2023 remains the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Double Stroller, which has the best intersection of comfort for the kids, quality wheels that can handle different terrain, ease of fold and reasonable pricing based on the years it will last you. It consistently earns top marks from our testers and on-staff parenting pros. If you have a tighter budget, only need to use a double stroller for short errands or are looking for a double stroller for travel to Disney, there's no beating the price of the Delta Children LX Side by Side Stroller.
